Backward Links & Page Rank

Hi All.
I have had a web-site for just over a year. I have now got around 35 backward links. Google, about two weeks ago only recognised 16 of them. Today Google only recognises 4. Why do they all not show?

Over the year my Page rank, on first being 'picked up' obtained a rank of 1/10. Then at the next change by Google, my home page stayed at 1/10, but all my other pages acheived 3/10. At the next change my home went to 3/10 & all the other lost rank altogether. Today my home page has dropped back to 1/10? On optimization sites my site shows as being 'well optimised' on the majority of pages.

Can anyone advise on why the ranking jumps about so much and why the links are not picked up please.

I am also a novice of web design and SEO . This is a very good question and I also wait to hear from advance user to tell about this too. I hope someone can help us and give us idea of jumping page rank

Google recognised the 16 about 3 months ago, priar to that it recognised 4, it just temporarily went back to the old values, it will be showing 16 again soon and soon enough that figure will be changing again as we are due an update!

Thanks for that, but why does the page rank jump about from one day to the next?

The Google datacentre's are a bit messed up at the moment and some of them keep going back to the old values, it should get sorted soon enough.

Just curious; did you notice any major change in the order your pages were listed for your top keywords when your PR went from 3 to 1?

Hi. Can't say I noticed any change in order. I had not altered the keywords at all.
Also I know that I had more than 16 links in place before the index which resulted in the 16 being recognised. In fact two are from my own Blogs, one a 'spirit' & one a 'spot', both of which have been up for about a year, both link back to my main site, (www.gitessouthbrittany.com), both had a rank of two at one stage, now the 'spot' has dropped back to a rank of one. But neither have ever been recognised as back links to my main site.
I have now 30 back links, will be interesting to see how many are recognised when the latest index is complete.

Hi All.
I had a 'play around' on MSN yesterday & found that they recognise 24 of my back links, including the bloggers. So it appears that Google, are perhaps a tad slower to recognise them. Anyway my site appears to be showing up well on various search criteria on all the main search engines now.
Lets hope it stays that way!

well first of all Google only shows the most quality BLs but its strange the same PR thing happened to me.
