Backlink/PageRank triumps every other things?

Hi all,

It seems like having a PageRank meaning top rank on SERPs. In the end, is that the case we don't have to do anything but keep doing links on other sites?

I am tired of link building.

it is right that we could have higher PR by building links but it doesn't mean that if you have the highest PR than your competitors you'll be on the top of SERPs rather than them...you can search for a keyword and you can see some less PR that is on top with other site that have highest PR than them...

SERPs have lots of factors that consider and link popularity is just one of them...improve your contents and build link and use your targeted keywords as your anchor text and that will help you rank well...

Patience is also needed on SEO as it is a continuous process....

I had a a few online backlink checker tools results showing that I have quite a few backlinks from some any other websites but I just couldn't get them onto google "link:" showing? Are those links not qualified as good backlinks?

There could be several reasons why your links are not showing up on google links search. It is a possibility that the websites you have links on are using a nofollow tag in the link. The purpose of backlinks is to get "votes" from other users on websites that link to you because your website is good.

The NoFollow attribute (rel=”nofollow”) was originally created to block search engines from following links in comments, because of the amount of comment spamming.
From what i understand it's also being used by wikipedia and also many paid links.

Not sure if im right, but it's a possibility that you may consider looking into. Hope this was helpful.

your PR has nothing to do with your SERPs. these are two different things. High PR can be obtain by back links while good position in SERPs has a LOT of aspects to be consider.

focus on your content, it means a LOT in SE's.

Link building, is not only mean that you have to make some 'link exchange' with other website, by joining this forum is also one of a good way to build your website incoming links. on my very first month, I have 90 % of incoming links (on google, yahoo, altavista) from 6 forums I joined.

Yah your right. Link Building is important for SEO. I know it keeps me tired and it is our job to do link building. As SEO you should get as many links as possible to your page.Choose the pages having good PageRank. The PageRank of the site is different from the PageRank of the linking page.

-to get your backlinks from google you can create an account where you can submit your sitemap and there are a new section where google will give you every week all your backlinks.
- another think there are "nofollow" tag used by web masters but do not forget that if you add your link to web page where is not indexed by search engines (specially with new web sites) this link will not be take in consideration by all search engines and the webmaster of this web site did not do any thing wrong.
- another thing that free tools are not usually perfect and can have many problems.
