outbound link with script

Will opening an outbound link with a small script like the example below hide the link from Google, is it bad practice, is it OK, or does it not matter? Will Google penalize for this?

My reasoning is based on an article I read about page-leak from to many outbound links and using this type of script will hide the link from Googlebot.

The nature of my site makes me have a few hundred links to all 50 states fishing commissions, hunting commissions, conservation sites and adds up to hundreds of outbound links. It's a fishing site.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

At the moment, Google probably won't follow the link. However, they are developing Javascript parsers and there's a chance that they might.

Yes, it is bad practice and Google might penalize for it. PageRank leak is nothing to be concerned about; Google will rank valuable resources naturally above others.

I think google is already parsing javascript so my advice is if you can stay away from it, just do.

Another advice iis if you're really worried about page rank leaks just use the rel=nofollow on your links. *wink* *wink*

yeah, just nofollow the links. Or, create a php file that accepts a url variable, and does a javascript redirect to the url you specify.
