Site Submission Software to 1000's search engines

Hi,

Question 1:
There are plenty of commercial software offering site promotion in "1000's search engines". I have just tried one. However, I've noticed that it also submits my site to "strange" reputation web sites having low page rank. It looks like it's spamming my web site all over the internet where possible, even if my web site content does not match at all. I wonder if someone have tried such "software" and got any good results from doing so? Would be great if you could share please, because I'm not sure if it's doing any good or bad for my web site...

Thanks,
Alex

I'd stay away from these...there aren't 1000's of good search engines, just the big 3 - Google, Yahoo, MSN.

Lightbulb

Yes, "1000's ..." phrase does not mean what it says, however it's frequently used on the internet to define such kind of software. I pick my phrases carefully

I have "a feeling" that I should not use this software, but just a thought that it could actually help bringing more traffic to the web site, makes it attractive!

Sorry, but have you actually used such software before and monitored the results?

I'd recommend against it. No, I haven't because I already know it's a bad idea.

Well, meanwhile, I'll be keeping an eye on my web site that I run through "web business promotion software" and give you a shout if it does actually changed anything. So far no effect at all and I think won't be in near future ...

bad idea

this sort of software is definately a bad idea

the best way is to submit to the big ones, if you feel you must.
As previously mentioned, the big 3.

You should not need to submit though, as covered many times in SEO forums generally, just get a few quality links and you will be away.

You may ask what is a quality link, there are numerous things to check.

A very very brief check to do, see if the site you want the link from is 'clean'
In other words, does it have pages well indexed in the Search engines?
Does it rank in search for its main phrases?
If it is a directory, is it human edited? Automated directories generally are not good news.

Thumbs up

Thanks All for reply!

I've checked the list of web sites in that software, some web sites has PR6 and inner directories PR5. But there are also some really bad examples.
I guess, I'll just go through the list and submit to the "good" ones.
As to 3 Big ones - they crawl pages pretty good without any outside help.

But in general, this software might be helpful to get an overall view of business directories and web sites that accept submissions.

I'll post my experimental results here after some time

save yourself time

Don't get hung up on this stuff.

look around at reputable forums and you will easily find lists of safe directories with PR and Alexa

OR

Find some of your own.

To find them, just use the net, that is what it is there for.
As a starter, try the following search terms;
add url human edited uk
add url seo friednly
add url seo directory

etc.
etc.

OR

why not use one of the many prebuilt self managing systems, there are plenty of free ones

OR

why not get someone to submit them for you, there are plenty of services around, be careful using this method as you need to know which directories you are going to be posted on

The software you have is what I would put into the category of

"for affiliates, by affiliates" which means that the only people who benefit from them are the affiliate links that are used to purchase the script. There is little actual end user value, you could however draw up an affiliate page and say how wonderful it is and sell it on until you have your money back.....ahem
