Question How to optimize for Google

Could you please tell me what else I have to do to optimize my site www.mathsupporter.com for google for the keywords math help, math homework help and math tutoring.

I have used these keywords in the title, content and description but I can not find my site for these keywords in Google. When I checked, I found 40% of the total people are searching for the keyword 'math help' through Google.

I am a newbie and don't know much about SEO. I have heard that some companies are there who will do the SEO for sites and are claiming that after optimizing the sites will appear in the first two pages. Is it true?

Any help is appreciated

First you have to find your site on google through your exact site name : if you can't get it, means there is no page(s) on your site have been index by google yet nor have any backlink, so you won't get this through keywords (obviously).

But if you can reach you site by your site name, and not by your keywords so it's only a matter of SERP, just be patient and do your SEO much harder .. he he.

try to make your sitename, description, keyword and content very highly related it would help greatly.

Thank you for your reply.
My site is indexed by google. I can find my site for some keywords like "trigonometry ratios'. But that are not my important keywords. But when I checked, individually for each keyword, math help, math homework help & math tutoring I got very good SEO results. But still I can not find my site in google for these keywords. But I managed to get into the second page of MSN for these keywords.
I have launched my site just 2 months before. If I get some back links, is it possible to get in to the first 20 positions. I am not much bothered about page rank. Some body told me it can possible to have a high page rank and no traffic. That is a good page rank do not guarantee a top position in google.
Anybody know about this?
Thanks

Improve your link popularity and use your targeted keywords as your anchor text that way the more sites linking to you with that keyword will gave you a better chance to be on SERPs...and fresh and unique content will help you with that...and if your site is really help many people might link back to you...

alex-party is an unknown quantity at this point
I really liked your site and the idea of helping people, therefore I will tell you what I know.... I know that web sites with clean HTML has better position in google. As example, I've created an accessible web site and after 2 weeks it had PR=2 and 1st among 1,6mln results by main keyword.

I have checked your page html, you're using XHTML STRICT 1.0 Document Type: <.... "xhtml1-strict.dtd">

If you don't know what this means, you can check W3C specs here:
http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/#xhtml

.....But, you can skip reading all this and do as I say:
1. Download Firefox Browser: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
2. Download HTMLValidator extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/887/

Open your page with firefox and mouse over the right bottom corner, you should see all errors on your page, see the screenshot:
http://www.skybyte.net/mathsupporter/mathsupporter1.jpg

Double click on that icon, will open your source code with exact location of your error and suggestion how to fix it:
http://www.skybyte.net/mathsupporter/mathsupporter2.jpg

So, follow the instructions in right bottom window how to fix it.
When you're done, I guarantee your page will be soon in top 10!

Regards,

thank you Alex
But I have had another post about this in another forum. There many people advised me don't give much importance to HTML validation. www.google.com itself has about 63 errors. Many other popular sites are not HTML validate.

If you want your site to get more traffic from organic searches, choose semi-competitive keywords. Improve link popularity by doing link building by submitting in web directories, article directories, attaching links in forum signatures, etc.
