2pages with similar content ?

Hi Friends,

I've a site which has 2 index pages(index , index1). Both the index page contents are almost like same. if the google crawl my both this pages is it consider as spamming or any disadvantages ?????????

Plz tell me the answer. I need both the pages for different purpose

I think index1 cannot be considered as the index of a website. it is default to index.html or index.htm

There is nothing to be worry about.
Both pages will be indexed by Google regardless of their content.
No, it's not considering spamming. This is your web site, you can do whatever you want.

I think you home page will be index and not index1, so google will consider index as your home page and if two pages have same content change them, so the confusion end

As soon as there is a link from index.html to index1.html, both pages will be crawled by google regardless of their content.

Leftybogs, I agree with you this will give your site supplemental result in addition with that its difficult to your page rank to get on the top of Google search engine.
