All my colleagues are telling me , if the site is new have to submit first in dmoz .

I want to know why have to submit particularly dmoz ? i know it has good pr........


i guess it may be for this reasons :

1. Google crawling more number of times on this dmoz site
2 People visiting this site oftenly
3. google giving more preference for this site

If your site is new, you need to submit it first to the major search engine google, yahoo and msn. Then it is the time for you to submit to directories such as dmoz. Getting listed in DMOZ is vitally important as far as the search engine positioning is concerned.Most of the sites submitted to Dmoz are rejected due to having submitted to improper or wrong categories, so you must find out the most relevant category for your site before submitting it to Dmoz.

Aside from its high PR and reputation, getting listed to DMOZ takes alot of time sometimes its takes a year to get listed. so i need to submit it as early as possible.

Don't focus your time in DMOZ alone. There are lots of directories around. Use your site in your sig. in forums, write articles for your site, link with quality sites related to yours.. Link building is the key.

Your colleagues are incorrect with giving you that advice. A Dmoz link is no more or less than a link from a site with a comparable page rank of the particular Dmoz category.
