Choose Keyword
Hi everyone, hope any of you can give me clue on this.
if scale was 1-100%, how do you consider if the keyword (for niche market) is good, comparing number of people who searching it (per month) ratio to google search results? you think 5-10% is okay and still good niche market to enter? Last edited by stream; 06-10-2007 at 07:03 AM. Reason: to relate keyword with niche market |

Thank you Alex and Break....
sorry for my writing above. I try to make it simpler. at the moment I'm looking for an idea of new topic for website: 1. in order to attract more visitors, the topic is should be less competitors (can be seen in numbers of google searching result for this topic). 2. nevertheless, the number of people who search for this topic should be "high" per month (called niche market). this number (per month) for this topic can be detected by software named "good keyword" as i used it now. 3. lastly, I divided no 2 by no 1 to have result in percentage, where the higher result is the better. the problem is almost impossible to achieve result of above 50% for niche market. so i'd like to have your idea on "what range" you think that's still good niche market. 5-10% is still okey? (off course I still have to SEO my web after niche market chosen). again, big thank for your input. |

Okey, now it makes more sense.
Let me guess if I got it right: You want to find the best keywords for your topic which also brings many pages in search results? If your topic attracts 10 visitors from 100.000 possible results, your share would be 10/100.000*100=0.01%. So you need to get 50.000 visitors to get 50% market share. This amount of visitors is only possible if you own Microsoft web site, in other words, your site have to be popular and have good PR. Now, your question "5-10% is okay and still good niche market to enter?" - that depends on many factors and it's hard to tell, you could tell me what's the 1st and 2nd number you're dividing in your calculations and what's your initial PR. But I don't think you should focus on numbers, you should focus on the idea and how you plan to survive in that market! You can enter any market with 0.00% visitors and with good business plan, you could have 100% in couple of years, it's all about hard working and achieving your goals. Meanwhile, good luck! |

The only thing that I would add is that Google seems to be becoming more of a natural search engine. What I mean by that is that Google is doing an increasingly good job of returning results based on a more 'natural' expression of keywords. Another factor to consider is that a growing percentage of Google searches are falling into the category of unique searches, (as more and more people are searching with very specific terms). If you want to gain a larger percentage of your niche market, I would suggest diversifying your keywords to include as many natural expressions as possible. One never knows what a visitor may enter in the search field to find you, so you want to try and cover as many bases as you can. All the best! |
