but this breaks all the rules... there is NO site content, but I did ceck out the Cached ver. of the site.

I think it got so high for 2 reasons, 1>google adds on the page. 2> google tools bar on the bottom...
MY site lost HUGe in the rattings, after I took the bar off... Iadded it again...to see what happens...

nah, it doesn't break any rules- im simply working on content for the page right now...

Its ranked #1 because of the backlinks going to the page-not the advertisements, search bar, etc.

thanks for the great advice.

just a question, if you were to place the links in a table and then set the table height/width both to 0 then the table will not show, but the google spider will still read those links and value them as backlinks, i think it should but can anyone confirm that?

Good points! Here's one more I'd like to add: participating in forums that allows signatures. Threads will get indexed by the search engines and the links in your signature will count as a link to your site, hence increasing your link popularity and search placement.

Personally, I would not participate in a forum that does not allow me to attach my signature to my posts, regardless of how popular that forum is. I think the least that a forum can do to compensate for your contribution to their content is to allow sig's.
