Does the domain name plays any role in Search Engine Ranking?
I want to register my site.. and i'm in dilemma.
Do i get any benefit or disadvantage if i register my website in www.domainname.com.np rather than DomainName.com -- Reserve Your Place In Cyberspace with DomainName.com Domain Name Registration Services! Where shall i register and why? Regards, Tenzing |

Whoa... Easy on the long URL...
While it's true that keywords in the domain name can add a nice SEO bonus, you still have to keep it functional for those who need to type it in. The way I see it, it comes down to a balancing act between including a keyword or two while also keeping the name easy to remember. In other words, do your best to get the bonus but don't make it too hard for your visitors. |

The main advantage is that .com has the highest name recognition...
In other words, when the average person is trying to remember a web address, (if they can't remember the whole thing), they'll usually just assume the .com extension. (This also helps explain why .com picks up so much of the 'stumble' traffic from the lower echelon TLD's). |

hmm
i would say getting a similar domain name is OK. But if some one really wants to have a web site for a long time and has the dedication to spend a lot of time & energy to promote his/her site then go with just a word and push that word as a BRAND NAME. brand name is the key to success to any successful site. Look around majority of the sites that are making money they are not key word related. Hope it helps
