How does google record or list backlinks of a certain site?

Hi
There is no specification about how Google gives back link to sites. In my opinion, Google gives back link based on following rules.

The sites which giving back link to other site is a directory.
The back link from a site of same category (In the same business).

If any body has, more idea about it then shares.

Well why is it backlinks are sometimes increasing and decreasing..I mean backlinks of the site disappears?

because some of your links are gone in sites that has been crawled by google...

usually thats the reason beside from some changes or update... some of them are not permanent link.. just continue gathering quality links..

Googlebot crawls the links and when there is a major backlink update, newly-crawled links are shown through Google's link: command

Hi all
The back link of your site decreased and increased due to non-regular link. When you submit your link to various directories then give you a back link for a predefined time period. After completion of period, they remove your link, and then your link count decreased.

When you submit your site to quality directory, they provide you a valuable link. The no of back link count increased when you got more back link.

once a site was crawled and spiders saw your link in there that will be consider as you IBL but some of them are not permanent and so changes will be observed...

IBLs increases and decreases because nothing is constant in SEO world
