SEO friendly "ALT" property of an image tag

Hey guys,

I have been asked a question recently about "ALT TAG" and making it SEO friendly. I got a minute to put it here, so here we go:

1. ALT is not a TAG, its a PROPERTY, but somehow everybody used to "tag", so lets just use it as is.
2. ALT "tag" is a short description of an graphic element and may have 2-3 keywords. It should be no longer than 80 chars.
3. Also, people get crazy about "stuffing" alt tags with keywords, separated by comma, hoping to get better sers positions on certain keywords, well those days are gone, try it and you'll get a Google ban and don't say you did not know, because you know now, since you're reading this post.

Nice post sir, and another thing, alts are also a w3c compliant. You need to put those to validate your site in w3c.

Also I always thought we call it an ATTRIBUTE of a TAG, not a PROPERTY. But that may have change over the years.
