From 3rd to Nowhere!
Hi,
My site is currently a 2 page site - Coming soon page and contact page. Last week, using certain phrases, the site came up around 3rd or 4th, just above a competitor (Sounds sinister I know, but hey, this is business! lol) Anyway, not sure when it happened, but within the last few days, the listing for the main site has totally disappeared off google (using site: mydomain.com), but the contact page is still there, although not anywhere to be found (it probably never was unless searched for by company name). I gather I have been banned or penalised (more likely the latter as the contact page is still there?). Thing is, I dont know why... The site has only been submitted once, and there is great keywords associated with it. However, there is currently only one or two backlinks to the site (but they are relevant & quality ones). Can anyone explain what's going on? In accordance with the site rules, I am not allowed to post the link. Thank |

RudeYote, the site's graphic looks good, but I'm surprised the site ever ranked well in the search engines. There's very little content on the page, and I can't find very many links pointing to it.
Just looking at the HTML, you may want to reformat your keyword list. The "keywords" meta tag can take a comma-separated list, instead of one separated by newlines, like yours currently is. |

Ok, since posting this, I checked again, and it seems the main page has come back.
I know that there graphics aren't good for search engines, however, the owner liked it and it's only until the main site is finished. I did put ALT tags in though. If i'm honest, the meta tags were put on new lines by IBP, and I didn't bother changing them, although now you mention it, I might just do that. Does it make a difference using new lines or commas, apart from the obvious longer pages (browser should parse them just as fast?) I have not started linking or anything yet to the site (mainly due to the lack of good and related sites I can link from) but am working on it soon (owner is on holiday atm and dont want there to be a sudden flow of traffic until he's back). Thanks for the input. |

I'm guessing you were initially ranked high because it's a new site. I've had brand new sites with little content show up briefly in the rankings and then drop off until I got more links & content.

What page rank? It shows 0 for me
![]() I think Intelliot had a chached PR from other web site, it happens sometimes, no biggy. You can not get hight PR with few links, that would be a mirracle or google flaw. The fact that page disappeared from search is because google takes if off before recrawling for a day or two, it's common and happen often. GL |
