How can I vanish from one search term but not all?

I am a fairly experienced webmaster, and several of my client sites rank in the top 5 in their best search term. My own site used to be #1 under the terms "Oregon advertising" and "oregon advertising agencies" [ without the quotes] for like the past two years. Now all of the sudden, without me changing a thing on the site, it has totally vanished from those terms. The site continues to get spidered, because I recently moved from #18 under "aviation advertising" to about #11 or 12...so I know it is getting indexed. My site:celestedaniels.com query brings up 27 pages in the Google system, including my index.html page which is keyworded exactly like is has always been when it ranked at the top of my most important search terms.

The one thing I did recently (about 6 months ago) was add a robots.txt file to try and protect a proofing directory as well as my images. Here is the copy/paste from that file:

User-agent: *

Disallow: /proofing/
Disallow: /images/

I don't believe that is the root of the issue. So my question is: What can cause a site to vanish from one search term and not others when no html has changed on the page?

Is it because I am a noob?

I am disappointed that with all the activity on this forum, I have not received even one reply to this important (to me) post. Is it because I am a newbie here? How many times do I have to post or how long do I have to be a member before one of the many experienced Googlers replies to a post?

I do not want to get OUT of any rankings, I have vanished from my two top search terms while staying constant with others. My question is what might cause a site to drop completely out of a search term's rankings when nothing changes in the html on that page? I can see dropping a few places when the re-index and new sites move up, but completely disappearing is really odd. I have very good luck keeping my clients' sites in the top 5 of their terms, but this is my own agency site and this weirdness is perplexing.
