Need help getting indexed.
Hello all and thanks for taking the time to review this.
I'm confused about a few things that have either hindered the googlebot or resulted in a ban. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated! When I query google for my sitename.com, site:sitename.com or link:sitename.com I get blank results (which I have read, meant that my domain has been banned. (the last googlebot crawl was on 04-22-05) After careful review of the information google has about it's bot I found that 'hidden' text would result in a ban. My site has an interesting feature that I added called 'easter eggs' basically it's hidden internal links or commented out source code that a viewer can spend time looking for like a riddle. I'm gathering that the googlebot thought I was trying to cheat the system. Does this sound accurate? Another question is about linking content. All of my internal links are set up './next_dir/' instead of www.sitename.com/next_dir/. Which way is better for the bots? Finally, my site structure is setup by folders meaning... /index.php /next_dir/index.php /another_dir./index.php Does google frown on multiple indexes? as opposed to lumping all the content into the root with other naming conventions? Thanks in advance for replying! Scott EDIT (04-27) ::Hmmm, no help or suggestions? I don't care about ranking or anything, my site doesn't sell anything... Just trying to learn the game here, Waiting patiently EDIT (04-27)Later in the day :: I appealed the possible ban and it seems google reversed it. They crawled me today, thanks anyway.:: |

No they didn't. I don't think they will tell anyone the reasons as its a computers decision and very rarely does the staff get involved.
I just cleaned out my eggs and put them in another directory and via my robots.txt instructed the robot to ignore the directory. I wrote an e-mail explaining the reason for the ban and they seemed to reverse it. My site has numerous indexed pages now. |
