well, directories won't accept you at the same day so its ok to submit more on directories. you'll get banned if for example your site is new and recieves so mach links, then SE's would think that your site is spamming. SE's wants to see that your site gets link in a natural manner...

Submit to directories and find related categories which is more effective.

Yes, that's the exact point. Find justified and related areas/catagories. Like u have site on hardware goods but u collect links other than 'hardware goods' site,then its of no use. I hope u understand my point

i think you can look for unlimited backlinks per day the problem is if the spider can idex all your backlinks in a day because it always takes a matter of time before spider can index all your back links.

Make links as may as you can but avoid links from irrelevant content, that would hurt your PR for sure.

Can you explain something about getting links in a natural manner???
Is it in terms of quantity or strategy in getting this links???

you can submit your site but make sure you submitted it from different directories and in related categories, potchie is right do not dwell too much in directory submission for there is a lot of process to do.
