4. Submit Press releases: Submission of press release is a very good idea. There are many free press release sites where you can actually submit your site and make others about you website specifically. This will prove beneficial to build link exchanges.

5. Build your own network with the help of Social Networking sites: Build your network with Social media and networking sites. Communicate and build relationships to drive in more traffic to your sites. With that, you will be able to get some good links of existing websites.

6. Participate in link Programmes: It is always advisable to participate in link programmes. There are some good link programs in which you help others to get them link and other help you.

I'd go for number 1 and 5, these two are at most effective...

Since link exchanges or reciprocal linking is now monitored by Google...but it is still effective especially if you link to high PR and related sites... Lol...

That's a good tips...but don't take too much on reciprocal link building....you might get penalized by google....

same with coolguy! i'll go for Directory Submission and Social Networking. These two have the same goal which is getting one way backlinks with good keywords to your site from lots of other good sites, especially authority sites with high pagerank.

Well I consider that blog commenting and site commenting helps. It's a good startegy to make urself know to others and at the same time create a pingback/trackback to ur own blogs/sites!!

It's sounds spammy if the comments is not related to the topic...and besides, you can moderate the comments posted...
