Tips for Optimizing Your Site

Introduction

There are innumerable factors that can affect the search engines rankings. These factors vary from search engine to search engine as well as these vary from time to time as the search engines continue to improve upon their algorithm for ranking the sites. Out of the multiple factors that affect the search engine rankings, only few factors can be influenced by the webmaster that principally include the content management and the site structuring / programming etc. Few other factors that can be monitored are basically exploiting the loopholes in the search engines algorithms but such factors are short lived in their utility as the moment they are detected, they can adversely affect your rankings as well. good tips mate. But, I heard that search engine spiders are not searching for meta tags and meta description. Is it? Can someone please confirm?

Yes, there has been many sayings that meta tags like the keywords and description is no longer the target of the crawler. It is more on the title and the content of the site.

i agree with jabo... placing 1-2 sentence as a meta description doesn't hurt your site.

Who said Meta Descriptions are NOT Considered? Meta Descriptions are still alive and does wonders for ur site if optimized and placed correctly. FYI, Meta keywords are Back again in 2008
