Hi, does link exchange has any negative effect to website.

I am confused, when opening my website. At the bottom statics, it shows connecting to google.com and yahoo.com and other 77.221.33. com, where it should be showing connecting to himalayaexcursion.com which is the domain name of my web. When I talk about this to my web designer Co. they said that it is b-cuz of link exchange, is it true?

Buddy, I don't get you.

But exchanging links has no negative effect and will not harm you if doing in a right manner like exchange links with only quality and relevant sites which can be useful for your visitors.

I never read of anyone having that kind of problem and blaming it on link exchange. As what mit mentioned, as long as you're exchanging links with relevant sites only and not to link farms and the like, it won't have any negative effects on your site.

all the posts here are correct in my opinion. Link exchange wouldn't be related to that and you do only want to exchange links with similar content as you would be defeating the purpose of link exchange and could be penalized from search engines.

I think it's not in link exchange. Are you the one adding link partners to your site?

How are you exchanging links?
the reason I find a need to ask this, is because if you are using a program
it can hurt you as far as Google anyway. Some of these programs use a
directory on your site and Google can see that. Google frowns upon this. It leaves "footprints" and they will see it. Also some people feel you can buy advertising text link auctions (Google frowns on)
You really should be careful what Links you are exchanging, often times people don't analyze what links they are exchanging. It is important to give thought to this, if it is important to have a good Google rank.
