Customizing search result for your website

I am pretty new to all of this and had a question as to personalizing what someone would see when they get your homepage as a search result with google. I wanted to do something similar to what youtube (and many other sites have), which is a series of links in the search result, and even a search bar. While the search bar can wait, i would like to be able to list a series of links for my search result similar to youtube's. Any information or links regarding readings concerning this would be beneficial. Thanks.
