ive been testing both and both work in different cases. ive had some high PR links with unrelated content bring a PR4 site up 50 spots on a competitive term, onto the first page. At the same time the exact same link for another money site didnt do anything. this all happened when i know all other factors were fixed.

It is depends on website if site is news, education it not irrelevant, but your site is automotive related and you can submit your site in health site it gives negative marking in search engines, it is only increase your back links but it is negative effect to your blog.

Ya the idea is to have relevant sites in your niche with high (PR) linking to your site. Also make sure your backlinks have your keyword as the "anchor text". You also want your keywords in title, descriptions and tags.

I believe that any Google approved link to your site is an asset. How much of an asset, I don't know. But, it only makes sense that, the more quality links you have pointing to your site, the better. The question is, what does Google consider a quality or relevant link. I believe a quality link is any that follows the webmaster guidelines. A relevant link is one in your niche or genre. So, IMO, any of these links would be a benefit no matter the PR.

I think they are useless. If you get 100 links from low pr but theme related they would be more powerful than pr6 links

As such there wont be any effect. You can go for one way link building by blog posting , forum submissions, etc for do follow sites. You can even start doing social media marketing services.

Back links on irrelevant sites still counts but google gives less weight on it.. It would be best if your getting back links with the same niche to get much prettier results..
