link building question!

I've got a quick question,

Say you have a website that sells paint, you have 10 sub pages, each one is about a different colour paint so paint.com/redpaint.htm / bluepaint.htm / yellowpaint.htm etc.

You would like to come up in the search engines for the following keywords red paint / blue paint / yellow paint etc.

Would you build links to the homepage or would you build links to each sub page????

you can work first on the homepage and when your homepage was pushed, you can work on the subpages simultaneously.

You can target all your inner pages which is important to you.
