Hidden links: do they work?

Does it works to put on the bottom of your best PR site hundreds of very small (font dimension 0,5) "www.othersite.com www.mythirdsite.com www.anothersite.com www.thissiteneedspr.com] ... etc etc etc?

What happens then?

A) They are considered by Google as links to those sites, so their PR grows a little.

B) Nothing happens because they have to be hypertextual links.

C) Nothing happens for other reasons.

D) Nothing happens for other reasons, and in addiction Google "punish" the site in some way.

E) Something else....

I don't know what to do.

In my professional opinion I would recommend that you stay away from anything you have to ask a questions like this about. Now that Google does manual reviews of websites there is too much risk to risk getting perma-banned. .02

My response would be D because Google does look out for types of links and even keywords.

If they do not aid in visitor usability of the website, I would consider them a definite form of search engine spamming. Don't do it.

Google doesn't manually review any site unless your site gets reported for spam.

No matter how many hidden links you may have on your site, it still only counts as 1 "vote" for that site.

True Google doesn't manually review them on by one, but you also have automatic review which can scan for the likings of such invisible links and place them in like a review box for Humans at Google to review.

As a rule of thumb, design your site for USERS, not SEARCH ENGINES. They're all smart enough to pick up on all the tricks ( no more spamming the footer of your site with 100000 keywords in a transparent font! ) plus if you have a good site that people want to visit, your site will grow and so will your ranking
