Google backlinks question

Hi all

little question for all you SEO folk out there

Im a little confused about backlinks, if i type for instance link: then my domain name into google, it only shows up very little links back, however I know my website link is on many more websites, directories etc,

does google only show backlinks that it takes into consideration when working out page rank/listings etc?

this might be a really stupid question, but im quite new to alot of this SEO stuff

Hey - your new - so what. We've all been new at one time. You've come to the right place for your questions to get answered.

If you do Link:Register a Domain, Find Hosting and Create a Website | Domain.com - Google will show you only a partial of sites that's linking back to you.

Go to Google Webmaster Central - sign up. Look up external links and it should show you just about all the sites linking to you.

Yes, google always shows less links than you have, if you want to see total no of links go to google, type your site name and then press enter. It will show you total no. of links.
