Reciprocal Links

Has anyone else heard that Google could be penalising sites that don't categorize links and that have more than 25 links on a page.

This came to me from a UK link builder who has written articles on linkbuilding. Seems a little wayout to me, she even called sites that have unstructured link pages with more than 25 links more like FFA.

Whats your thoughts guys ?

Total BS - How can Google possibly tell you how to build your site? WE dictate what we want to do with our sites, not Google.

What if I had a page that listed all of the NFL players (over 400) - Why would I be penalized? They would all be relevant, yet they would well exceed the supposed limit.

Point is, as Google says, build your website for your visitors, not the search engines.

I'm inclined to agree

I'd like to agree with you, but google even states in it's guidelines don't have more than 100 links on a pge, even though in practive I'm sure they spider at least 200 from experiments and other reading. I'd like to think we could build our sites in the best wya for users but in truth we all know that doesn't always come out as the best way to achieve a search engine ranking.

I've read about this penalize as well in many different forums and all say it is true and the it had started at the last update.

I fixed 2 of my sites - It makes more sense, it looks better - and hell, why should I risk it with Big-G looking?

I've heard that Google does not penalize site itself, it just do not transfer PR to the linked site

why worry?

Hi Guys,

I think people nowdays are getting more and more anxious and worried about Google giving them a punch by penalizing them. For me I think its just our worry and thinking that Google will penalize site which has more then 25 links or not categorized.
Because if thats true then none of these news, sports, gov, portals and many biggies would have not been running their site without having penailized tag on them..

Just keep mind that..

- Dont over optimize, I mean keep your site clean with keywords used where it should be and not stuffing it anywhere and everywhere.

- Dont use text with text color same as background to just fool search engines.. Search bots never like it, offcourse no one would like cheating them...

- Dont submit your site to engines again and again.. I mean on daily basis. once or twice in a month is enough.. as search bots will crawl your site when it wants to.

Otherwise I think people should stop worrying about getting penalized and infact enjoy the presence in such a huge number of website network (Internet).

Google is just one of the search engines after all.
Though the biggest of all.
