SEO - Code validation

One of my many stages of SEO is to validate all my pages to ensure the HTML code is correct and doesn't include anything which may cause confusion for spiders etc.

I have the link http://validator.w3.org and will be attempting to correct any errors with my mediocre level of HTML coding knowledge.

Has anyone got any hits or tips for me before I start?

Much appreciated people!
