'links:http://yoururl.com" vs "links:(space)http:/

If you enter "links:http://www.anyurl.com] you get one result, (usually a low number) and if you enter the same inquiry with a space between the 'links:' and the 'http', you arrive at a different and larger number of inbound links.
Anyone know why?

Because you are using it wrong.
The command is link:site.com no space. when you have a space it treats it like a search term.

Thanks for the reply... I tried "link:http://www.myurl.com] and then tried "linkspace)http://myurl.com]
The first command returned 35 links associated with my web site, the second returned more than 500.
Does the same thing apply, the second command is treated like a search?

Correct. Link provides the backlinks Google recognizes. While the second just displays everything with the word link and your site address link or just word on the page. Yahoo provides better backlink results anyways.

URLs with and without the "www." prefix can, and probably do, have different PageRank values. For internal pages the "http://" prefix might also matter. Generally speaking, you want to enter URLs for this tool with the "www." prefix, and without the "http://" prefix. (there are exceptions to this advice—for instance, most sub-domains shouldn't have a www. prefix)
