i think.,you should be change your home page design.look likes..pale color.
at this 2.0 web time.,"crystal" buttons are good.

better check the alignment of your background with your content background..Uglycat is right..your site looks so dull..improve your design.make it an eye friendly..Use inviting color theme make sure every colors compliment each other.

just change the width of your banner.. first check the exact height and width of your header.. just click on customize then edit html, expand widget then look for the header-wrapper.. but, before you do some editing download your full template first...
by the time you saw the width and the height of your header wrapper just edit the size of your header image then you can easily put it back..
