Can you please review my new phpBB http://forum.gloog.net...any improvements which could be made? Do you like the skin or the colour?

The first, and obvious, questions are "what's a gloog, and why does it have a community?".
This should be answered a moment after people land there, with some kind of logo, and/or blurb. Some kind of 'mission statement'.
Something that will briefly sum up what you are trying to do, as well as make the visitor curious enough to want to read more.

Oh, and I really hate the green. But that's probably just me.

I'd also add that running the place will probably give you a greater appreciation of people that read and follow the rules. Like forum stickies that state guidelines
for posting in that forum, or say, the rules for the number of clickable links in a signature.

And regarding that thing you said about rules...my Community has an open atmosphere...there are no strict rules to abide by...just be sensible is all! . I want my users to feel welcome and not intimidated by a huge list of rules which take more than a few seconds to read. .
P.S. Is my signature over the limit?

Ah, so you feel that "Google" and "Gloog" have basically the same name-recognition, then? *ahem*.

And yes, it's probably fine to have a relaxed attitude towards rules when you have a new, small, community. A larger one needs a few.
Now, since a few people seem to have heard of Google, there are a constant influx of people that merely do a 'hit and run' here to advertise, and give nothing back to the community in return.
That's why there has had to be rules put in place. Like a minimum number of posts (50) before posting your site in this forum, and a limit of two links in the sig.

To be clear, I know your intent was not to break the spirit of these rules, but I hope that you understand that if they weren't in place, there would be so much abuse of the forum, that it would be a much less pleasant place. For you, for me, and for all other people that are actually interested in being members of this community.

Yes, I agree that big sites need some rules...it's just some are a bit annoying . And about your *ahem* ... visit my homepage for what it's about.

And, I do know what "Gloog" is , and I've visitied your site before (I generally do, the first time a member posts one).
My point is, that a visitor that lands on your forum site probably won't have.
All I'm saying, is that some little bit of reference material would be useful in getting, and holding the attention of that visitor. To both read the forum, and have have a look at the main page.
That's what it's all about, no?

The website is broken again ... I don't think it is my fault though...I think it's something to do with the server...this is the second time it has happened. If you click the link now, it will tell you it has encountered an internal server error.

Gloog Community is back up and running .
