Considering that Orkut is now pushing people to move to a Google account where everything is one big happy service. Yes, because it's the same password.

are you sure someone didn't watch you login?. Or did you select the option to log you in automatically on that machine?

That's an interesting point. Most people don't see any point in the jailing process; I think that's part of the reason they've scaled it back significantly since the early days.

Considering that I don't login to any sites when no body is around and I have Firefox log me into everything automatically (Plus that checkbox on Orkut to log you in automatically never works on my system).

Either way, that account has been closed a long time ago and I opened up a new one not to long ago and have my passwords a bit stronger. And hopefully Orkut has fixed a few things with the site (such as what i had described or what some people have reported in the past about their accounts being deleted because they visit a website).

I found a cool tool that works well with FireFox for password security. I like it because I don't have to remember more than one password but I can use a different password for every website.

Password suggestion

I use a password that is internally the same for every website, but different on the ends. The key to the password is the username of the site, and the end represents the number of times I have had to change the password.

For example, if I had a gmail account under johnsmith, then I would take something like my license plate 82EB14 and make it the middle. Since I also need a symbol I would put one in the beginning. I just now chose & randomly. Then on the end I would have the number 1, or if it was a site that made me change passwords on a regular basis, 0001.

That would make my password j&82EB141 or j$82EB140001.
If I was registered as madjack on another website, the password would be m&82EB141. Since some sites don't allow symbols, the password for those would simply eliminate the symbol: m82EB141. When the password changes, the number goes up: m&82EB140002. I keep a hardcopy of the last number plus a hint to the word. The hint for the above password would be car0002.

The middle "word" is different for various types of accounts: I have one for forums, one for financial sites, and one for work. I got assigned a password from a website that I liked so much I use it instead of something from my life.

Its not as complicated as it seems. Hope this helps.

OH, and all the usernames and the license plate number are made up.
