Linkedin, other business networking?

I'm curious if anyone here has used Linked in or any other social networking sites for businesses. I'm looking for ways to better optimize and expand my company's "web presence," so any tools like this that might be useful are definitely worth pursuing. What, however, is the benefit of a site like linked in? Is it purely for networking purposes, or does it help with search engine optimization as blogger does, etc...?

Linked in is a superb example of a business social networking site, it is very formal and has great tools for a user to add information about them and the company, you may note that Myspace and Facebook could also serve similar purpose but Linked in is certainly the one I would recommend

I've worked for or in several businesses that use Linked In. It's not great for SEO, since I doubt the pages get indexed in any way, but it is a decent way to get noticed. If you're aggressive with blogging/social networking then your name will get around. It also depends on what your company does..

If you're planning a soft marketing campaign online it's usually a good idea to exhaust options, bearing in mind that only one may take off. There was an article in an old gotvmail newsletter (I use their advanced voicemail service), that mentions a few other sites. Might be a good place to start:

GotVMail Gary's Notepad - How-To - New Ways to Promote Your Business Online

Linked In is mentioned, as is Technorati, Youtube, Meetup, etc. All decent ideas to consider.

well social bookmarkings is a nice source of traffic i think it is okey to place some link to some related social network sites.
