Orkut Account Migrating to Google Account (Merged)

I just get the login page of orkut changed and asking for my Gmail..account and password and associate my orkut id to my gmail.... if i want to continue using the service.... whats up with google now.... anybody have any idea....??

I got the same message but I had no trouble as I have a google account. I guess they only want to improve customer service? But I know that a lot of people will stop using Orkut for this reason.
Anyway, if you need a GMail invite, PM me. Once you create a GMail account, you'll be able to use it as your general Google Account...

Thanx Eirikr i have Gmail... and isn't this policy or service is like .Net Passport... which let the user use single passport to be used on all msn services... if it is i hope Google will not messs it up like msn did..

and yes its really annoying man when i log out of my maill it logged me off from orkut too....

Yeah, it is really annoying. I used to like just typing my username to log on instead of the typing the whole e-mail address like the current scheme.

Hey. I connected my gmail account with my orkut id. But everytime I login with my gmail Id, I get the same "connect your orkut account" screen. when I use my old orkut ID, I am prompted to use the gmail ID.

This is getting around in circles and I am unable to login. Anybody heard of such mental trauma (thanks to orkut - it beats their "bad server - no donut" by a zillion to one!)...

Sign in to your Gmail first.. then on orkut home page click the link home on top left of the page then link your orkut to your gmail id when asked... i know its wierd but my freind had same prob and this thing worked ...

Yep, Orkut accounts have been merged with Google accounts. Looks like Google is actually serious about this "Orkut", despite the fact that it's so different (and so much slower) than all of Google's other services.

I noticed that the "who do you know?" picture has changed. The text is different, and the photos of the people are now in color.
