I am still waiting for a friendster-type network that will find people who best match your profile, whose book, movie, TV and political preferences are close to your own. I don't see why that hasn't happened yet. I know you can search for any single item in your profile and find a zillion people who also like to watch, say, The Simpsons. But I think these networks are failing to exploit their great potential. An Eco-Feminist who reads Orson Scott Card, watches Six Feet Under and enjoys miniture golf should be able to find the handful of similar people in the world.
