So, you're keeping "configuration" as your formal name?

Or did you mean to say "formerly known"?
That's my fault!

I'm relieved to know you're not, indeed, perfect.
I calculate that there is now a 3% lesser probability that you are actually an evil robot bent on world domination.

lol, he has dyslexia, I don't blame him. J/K :P. He didn't speak English for over 9 years, so I don't really blame him. I have a Russian friend who has been living in Toronto for 15 years. His parents never conversed in Russian, so he gradually forgot the language.

Gooooogler
i dont like it either but i admire the fact that orkut was made by a single person in the begining and he had this vision before anyone had or may be he was the first person to implement it..

Yeah, I've known a lot of people like that, all over our 'cultural mosaic', here. It's funny that due to human nature, their parents would tend to lapse into the mother tongue when angry, so everybody is familiar with all the 'good' phrases, even if not conversant in the language itself.

A "cultural mosaic" is better than a "melting pot". I may be forced to learn Spanish at some point.

My experience with Orkut is a shaky one, I realize it's a beta though. In the end it's all about the relationship's we forge, if you get in, where you fit in, it can be a blast!

To Keep Trying, Or Kut Losses?

i'm not generally a pessimist, but nobody ever said that everything that google touches would be golden. inevitably, some stuff isn't going to work out. and that's okay so long as people know when to stop orkut the losses and move on, and apply the lessons learned to something with more upside potential.

Early poll returns indicate 77% merely OK or worse, only 21% Good or better.

Even optimistically, the early micro poll is exactly 50% OK or better and 50% Poor or worse. A fairly bleak early impression.

I think it's just a rage. There's nothing in orkut, really. I can't understand why people are flocking to it.

Could stand some improvement

I think that Orkut has tremdous potential, but that potential is mostly unrealized.

I can't access it at work, because it is classified as a porn site. With a huge number of people (and communities) posting nude pics or cock shots, that is probably a fair characterization. I reported a number of them as bogus (nudity is against the TOS), but whoever does enforcement of the TOS is either asleep at the switch, overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the violations, or doesn't care.

I have invited some friends to Orkut who responded that they weren't really interested in participating in a Brazillian pornsite.

I've also seen a "community" organized for the purpose of attacking other communities that they don't like (mostly anti-religious groups). Such behavior will quickly destroy any potential that Orkut might have had.

Orkut is in need of a major cleanup.
