Big changes coming to orkut? under construction March 2nd

According to the orkut.com homepage,

We plan to do a site maintenance on March 2nd due to which orkut.com will be unavailable for a few hours starting at 11:00 am PST.

I found that myspace offers the most people in america and europe compared to other services (friendster, facebook, etc.). But, I also have an invite to Orkut, which to me seems like it will be more tangible. What I mean is the social "circle" that is the network of friends in myspace is completely obliterated because of Tom being added as a friend to everyone's account. SO the circle is deliniated by the friends list, not by the network.

I think that Orkut would be better at implementing the inclusions of circles and the exclusions.

But where is Orkut? What has it been doing? Is Brazil still the only place on earth that CARES about Orkut? (sorry google people, I know you care about your projects) Something needs to be done.

I need to post my login problem again as well...

orkut is now under construction. The website redirects to the page orkut.com/Maintenance.html which states:

It looks like they've completed the maintenance. Can't see any big changes off hand and there weren't any announcements on the news page.brbrIt appears as if orkut is slowing gaining popularity in the U.S., just going by the a href="http://www.orkut.com/MembersAll.aspx"demographics page/a. Right now, roughly 10% of the userbase is from the United States, where as a few months ago it was around 7% IIRC. Of course, a lot of that growth could be Brazilians living the in the U.S. too.br

It was under construction again yesterday, but its come back up now.
