Zidane Headbutt!!
On July 9th, 2006 in the World Cup 2006 Germany, Zidane and Materazzi were arguing. Materazzi insulted him "islamic terrorist" and then Zidane lost his temper and decided to do this...headbutt him on the chest. How sad...he won himself a red card for that..haha. He was out of the match and didnt get his metal when it was the award giving ceremony. Italy won cuz of zidane some say. http://ggzidane.com/ ...What a shame for him..10,000 euros in debt for headbutting..

Old news, old news
Anyway I don't think that Materazzi said anything like that to Zidane - they had some lip reader on the news and I can't remember what Materazzi said but it was nothing that offensive really. |

this is ridiculous, zidane has disgraced the sport of soccer and he has received a slap on thr wrist. Comments are always made on the pitch, and Zidane just couldn’t handle the heatbrbrI also find it disproportionated. I am italian but I was sincerely grieved for Zidane and for what it could mean to the fragile French politics behind. Materazzi should have used the feet and not the mouth but they have almost the same fine and ban. I won’t, but if I say “pig” to somebody he has even the right to say “elephant”… not to trow an elephant to me.brbrThe punishments were not fair. Zidane’s shoud have been worse, and I don’t think Materazzi should have even been punished. He shouldn’t have said anything, but what are you going to do, it happens. Head-butts, however, don’t occur very often. I think Zidane got off easy.brbrZidane’s actions were nothing less than criminal. A Suspension involving games toa newly retired soccer palyer is NO PUNISHMENT!!!. A tru punishment is that of taking away his Golden Goal awardbrbrObviously nobody can rightfully praise Zidane’s actions but, take away his Golden Ball Award??!! That is ridiculous, he proved he was the best player of the tournament because France wouldn’t even have made it to the final without his heroics against Spain and Brazil. One foul shouldn’t define more than a decade of world class soccer from one of the greatest to ever play, the punishments are fair, FIFA is very consistent.brbrA $6000 fine isn’t going to do much do Zidane. I think the fact that he will be remembered for his headbutt rather than his amazing playing during the cup is enough. Materazzi shouldn’t really have a punishment that severe. If Zidane hadn’t called attention to him with the headbutt, it would have at most recieved a yellow card.brbri think zidane did the right thing to head butt him brbr------------------------------------------------------------brThese were some views but it was wrong from both the ends as it was against the spirit of the Game

hi
I think it was a deliberate part of the Italian gameplan to get into Zidane's head and ruin his game which by then had been the best all throughout the World Cup. It fortunately worked for them and became a disastrous turn of events for the French when Zizu got the red card. Without their captain and their best playmaker on the field they became easy pickings for the confident Italians.
