There's no doubt about it, Brian Lara is much, much better than Sachin Tendulkar. I'm not blindly saying this, I can prove it.
He's much more consistent than Sachin, as Shashwat here mentioned (he's a friend of mine from school). Plus, even though Lara's younger than Tendulkar, he's broken almost all of his records and performs much better. For example, its only a matter of time before Lara breaks Tendulkar's record of thirty-five test centuries. He's at thirty-four now, and I hope he breaks the record soon. I voted for him. Sachin isn't consistent, and consistency is the key. For example, take the recently concluded second ODI between South Africa and India. South Africa made 248 runs in 50 overs. And India were all out for a paltry 91. Sachin was an awesome player in his youth, and he was consistent too. But he's somehow degenerated now. Last edited by IamTheKing9; 12-17-2006 at 01:13 AM. |

well sorry iamtheking9,
you have made a big mistake. sachin is younger than lara sachin is 33 and lara is 37,if you didnt know that. and as shashwat said sachin is truly the best,i mean brian lara maybe consistent now as iamtheking9 said but he did not flourish in his youth, but sachin did, everyone has their own time to shine and anyway sachin was out for a long time due to his injuries and has just come in. he scored a century when he returned. he will obviously take time to settle in. |

I should have explained myself more clearly. When I said that Lara's younger than Tendulkar, I meant that he's played lesser matches as compared to Tendulkar, and he's done better than Tendulkar did in the number of matches Lara played.
Might be mildly confusing. Hope you understand. |

Well...
The age factor is not that big a issue. Though Lara is elder to Sachin and more experienced, Sachin is more better.By experience I mean the number of years in cricket.I could be wrong at this. But still Sachin is better than Kara. He's a marvellous player though he;s out of form at present. His 1989 - 2003 matches should be watched. SIMPLY SUPERB! Last edited by Anirudh Vasudevan; 12-15-2006 at 08:36 AM. |

thanks a lot anirudh, for supporting me,its true and no one can deny the fact that sachin is the best batsman in the world, who can play strokes as good as he can,no one and his statistics also show his class,he is out of form at the moment but he will surely bounce back and also friends, dont forget that in the past many decisions had been made which where not in favour of sachin though they should have been and so he is a bit unlucky too but no one can ever match his class.

I don't deny that Sachin's been a much better batsman than Lara during most of his career. The statistics clearly tell you that. The thing is, he's not been in good form for a long time now. He hasn't done much in the ODIs and Tests in South Africa, except for a 44 in the first Test (which is till going on). What I want to say is that Lara is much, much more consistent than Sachin. Also, he seemed to be in great form the last time I saw him playing. Is the West Indies playing any matches now?

well, they just finished their one day series against pakistan yesterday and they also lost it,that itself proves how bad he played,no one can deny it,by looking at the series how can anyone say that lara is consistent and also he has been playing in the side for a long time in the recent past while sachin came back recently after a shoulder injury and still managed to score a century after his comeback,it might take time to come back to form.
