What do you think on Ian Thorpe retiring?

WellI have posted this topic inorder to know your views on
Ian Thopre the great swimmer from Australia quitting swimming.
Well I feel he shouldn't have done so.Though he has broken numerousrecords
his swimming abilities cannot be matched by anyone.
So I hope you like this topic and post many replies.

Well, I do think he wasn't wise in retiring, because he could have done a lot more at such a young age. Its the first time I've heard of someone retiring at the still much-to-prove age of 24. He could have broken more records, earned lots of money, gained popularity... in short, almost everything that one normally wishes for. But I suppose it was his decision. I only wonder why he retired. I mean, there must be a reason. It can't just be that he felt the time was right for his retirement (as he told the press), and get away with that. I can't believe that he'd stop such a prolific career from going on without some valid reason, and not just because he felt "the time was right".

well,
to be frank,i too am too surprised.i mean he shouldnt have retired,he is just twenty four years old.he had won so many medals at the international level.he was the one who made australia a dangerous force in international swimming, but he did say that he had been in the arena for 10 years, maybe that could be the reason but after all he is so young,we could have seen a lot more from him,he has so much left in him,it was indeed a big mistake which he shouldnt have done, there has to be some genuine reason for his retirement which he hasnt yet revealed.but we will never forget a great player like Thorpe who has so many records to his name.He has really proved his worth in the international arena.

He should. But I don't really think we can persuade him to come back.
