I like to fish off of one of those very long pier's that they have down in Padre Island or Galveston in the Gulf Of Mexico. You can catch something everytime you throw your line in the water and In a couple of hours one could literally catch 100 fish! I guess that type of fishing wouldn't be considered great sport, but it is alot of fun.

Its cool isn't, the seagulls can be a pain in the butt at dive-bombing for your bait on the pier. They are so used to the crowds and have become aggresive with their feeding habits. We were catching crabs and all sorta different creature with every cast. Lots of fun for sure.

Yeah, to be honest, sea fishing gets a little boring after a while, but its great I guess.

The main thing that I like about dock fishing is that there is usually a big fish that kinda 'rules' the dock that lives under it, and reeling it in is loads of fun.

We saw one of the big 'dock fish' on our last vacation, and it took a bite at my bait, but never hung on .......

But to be completly honest, I like pond fishing the best. Since i live in northern Virginia, it gets a teeny bit hard to get out and do sea fishing, but ponds are all over. I live just about a quarter mile from one, in fact. And i crave fishing for small and largmouth bass .

Naturally, fishing is not the ony thing i do, but its a cool hobby.

Thanks,
Paul

I can understand your problem with fishing in the ocean, it is approximately a fifteen hour drive to it from were I live. I haven't seen the ocean since 1982 when I visited South Padre Island. It's so weird to see all of the balloon jelly fish everywhere, you almost feel as if you are on another planet or something. I rely on going to local ponds aswell, sometimes it can be months or years before you can enjoy many of them because of the drought, cause It gets real hot here in the Summer. If you like to bass fish a pond is a great way to do it for sure. Hopefully they keep it stocked up so that you have your own little private 'honey hole'to ravage . Top water fishing with lures is way more exciting than just casting and waiting for bites in my opinion.
