brbrSoccer (to describe UK Football) is actually an English term and was commonly used in the 1950s. My Uncle still calls it that and he has never been outside of the Midlands! img src="/richedit/smileys/Shocked/6.gif" border="0" lolbrbrAustralians also call it 'Soccer'.brbrEither way I dislike this 'we are better' nonsense. People in the north of England have different phrases/words for everyday things compared to the south to it stands to reason that America, Canada and Australia will also use different terms. So what? I think it's great. Want everyone to speak the same? That'd be boring. Anyway, us English folk also use North American terminology over here. Fantastic. Diversity is great. img src="/richedit/smileys/Happy/19.gif" border="0"

Soccer- Yes it is a great sport, very fun to play with. best to play on field or on concrete.brAmericans call it soccer, maybe cuz they wanna distinguish american "football" from soccer, but in spanish they call it football. The name "football" should be literal and not refer to american football, which is not using ur foot except for kick off- but the rest is fighting and grabbing. It should refer to actually using ur foot. I dont know why ppl call it that.br

Obviously it is Soccer

Football (also known as association football or soccer) is a team sport played between two teams each consisting of 11 players and is widely considered to be the most popular sport in the world. It is a ball game played on a rectangular grass field (or occasionally on an artificial pitch) with a goal at each end. The object of the game is to score by maneuvering the ball into the opposing goal. The predominant feature of the sport is that players other than the goalkeepers may not use their hands or arms to propel the ball in general play. The winner is the team that has scored more goals at the end of the match.

Fussball

I definitely agree that football wins hands down. Every country has a sport to call its own but in every corner of the globe you will definitely see some kids playing with their feet kicking a ball. Aside from the Olympics the World Cup is the biggest sporting event. It is one of the few events that can gather people from all nations to watch and celebrate their teams, which may not necessarily be their own countries.

I agree. Football/soccer(US) is the winner. Especially with English Premier League, which I think it is the most fresh football competition in the world.
