Firefox gains more market shares than Internet Explorer

A recent research conducted by WebSideStory, a market research firm, depicts Firefox at a continuous growth rate since last year.

The research firm reported that Internet Explorer’s market shares have dropped by 1.5 percent to 90.3 percent, since December to Mid-January time frame. Mozilla’s Firefox gained 0.9 percent market shares to a full five percent. According to WebSideStory, IE’s market shares have been on a continuous decline since June of last year. Nice article and website Randy. It seems that it was only a couple of months ago that they were reporting around 14,000,000 downloads total. Have they had nearly 5,000,000 downloads since or am I way off base here? The word is definetly getting out about this fantastic browser!

But the majority, by far, are still using IE.

Hello intelliot. You are so right! It took me forever to make the swap. I was so comfortable with my IE browser! I'm so reluctant to change once I like a program, even if it's for the best. If IE adds a few more features it will make it even more difficult to decide in the future. Why want they add tabbed browsing, it is hurting them in my opinion?

How can IE be better to browse? It's so clunky. Always use protection - Firefox.

Seriously though, it is much better in every aspect, from my point of view.

Looks like Netscape will have the last laugh...

the majority use IE because they dont know any different, they use the comp to surf the web, but they dont understand anything, everyones computer i use, i tell them to use firefox, tell them the reasons why, an they want to switch, i uninstall IE and install firefox, i would love it if IE died, but then, they would start finding exploits in firefox, you cant win

With Firefox being open source and all, the good guys will probably find exploits faster than the bad guys. It's the whole "many eyes" thing.

However, since IE is so tied into Windows, and Microsoft is so desperate to keep it that way, IE will not die until Windows does.
