I put a nice promotion for it in my e-mail signature, and one of my friends downloaded it. He liked the program, except that he was no longer able to access a college website he needed, so he had to uninstall. It worked again then. This was closest I've come to a "Windows betrays you when you switch to a non-IE browser" personal experience.

Also, I recommended that another of my friends use Firefox along with Ad-Aware because she kept getting tons of spyware. There were deeper problems with that computer, though, and it is now sitting next to me waiting for me to come up with a brilliant idea about how to get semi-compatible hardware working on the Linux installation she wanted to try. This friend likes both Firefox and Linux.

Unfortunately, as excellent as alternatives like Firefox and Linux are, they don't seem to be viable solutions for many end users yet. I planned my current computing experience around open source choices by buying an HP computer for compatibility with Linux and installing Firefox because it seems to work much better with Linux than with Windows. However, incompatibility is a barrier to some people who are trying to use superior software in existing computing environments.

Teh Fox of Fire has just released 1.0.3 for testing, they are giving it candidate status as they want everyone to download it and run it through the ringers! While browsing, please focus your attention on the usability of the extensions you have installed and report any bugs you may encounter with this release.

What is so much better about Firefox? Is it just the fact that you're using something that Microsoft didn't make, or because it actually works better for you?

Internet Explorer seems so much better for me, and I've never had any issues with it (such as spyware, viruses, etc...). Even IE runs quicker for me. Of course I have firefox installed for website compatability issues, but that's all I use it for.

What is so much better about Firefox? A lot of things, but the main thing for me is tabbed browsing. Can't live without that anymore

Firefox the most customisable browser on earth!..
But i am not sure its the fastest. I have used many browsers and Netscape beat them all if we are talking about speed. I like the clean interface of Firefox. And yes.. I hate micro$oft too...
As for tabbed browsing now most of the brosers have tabbed browsing and it will be included in the next version of internet explorer too which already has a built in Pop up blocker as of now.. So you poeple better start finding new reasons to hate internet explorer
