Suddenly Can't View Gmail via Firefox

I use Fx 1.0.1 at work, and 1.0.2 at home. Up til last night, I was able to use the full version of Gmail at both locations. Last night at home I was navigating between tabs as normal. I closed Fx, then relaunched & went to Gmail login; the page displayed fine. After entering uname & pwd, what should have been my Inbox was a blank page. My extended statusbar showed 100% done, all images loaded, etc.

I went to Options & disabled Java & JavaScript, and could view the page - however w/limited functionality. But when I check both options, I can no longer view the page.

Oddly, I can view Gmail via IE and I can view it fine here at work. Any ideas on what might've happened? I prefer Gmail via the Web, and I prefer full Java functionality but for the life of me cannot figure out what I did...

I don't see what the problem is, I can see Gmail just fine with Java and JavaScript enabled. Sounds like some other software is interfering with the Gmail software.

Have you tried clearing your cache? Go to Options, Privacy, and expand the Cache area. Click the clear button and restart Firefox.

I got the issue fixed by establishing a new profile in Firefox. Had cookies enabled, cleared cache a bajillion times via both browser & Win Explorer, but still no go.

I reinstalled my extensions & themes, and Gmail works fine. Might try to update my Java to see if that has any effect. Otherwise all's good w/the Gmail world again.

Keep in mind that the Java runtime from Sun has nothing to do with the JavaScript implementation in Firefox. JavaScript is a scripting language that uses Java-like syntax. It's also sometimes referred to as ECMAScript.

There may be some issues with Firefox 1.0.2. Since upgrading, I have been plagued with problems accessing Yahoo Mail. Everything is fine when opening the browser and going to the site the first time, but attempts to return to the inbox after reading a message render a white screen - no error message - nothing. I have cleared the cache, cookies, etc but avoided deleting the profile (for now). Yahoo mail is working fine with MS IE so I don't think the problem is with the webmail interface.

Re-install FireFox. That is what I would do.

Not upgrading to 1.0.2 is a bad idea. Fx 1.0.2 contains some security fixes, you're better off backing up your bookmarks and creating a new profile if that will fix the issue.

*Please* do not tell people to not upgrade. Security fixes are not something you want to avoid.
