Question Google Analytics: Showing monthly or weekly totals instead of daily?

Hi! Is there a way to show weekly or monthly totals instead of daily totals? My site normally has a big drop in traffic over the weekend, and the spiky charts make it hard to see trends over time. It would be very helpful to be able to view monthly or weekly totals to be able to more easily see patterns and trends over a longer period. Thanks!!

Yup, you can change the rate so it will display weekly or monthly stats, change it at the right side of the dashboard where the date is displayed.

If you clicked the arrow beside the date, you will see this...

then you can set the week or the month you want to see...

No, I wasn't asking about the date RANGE...

Hi, thanks for the responses. However, that wasn't the question I was asking, I already know how to change the date RANGE.

I want to be able to show weekly or monthly *TOTALS*. E.g., if I set the range for 1/1 through 12/31, I want to see 12 dots, one per month, not 256 dots, one per day.

This is because the spiky nature of daily data hides trends; it is very hard to compare month to month or quarter to quarter looking at daily data, even if you stretch the range to cover the whole year. Or, being able to add display a trendline would be helpful.

Thanks again, Celestine

That's an interesting point Celestine, but I don't think it's possible to have 12 dots, one per month. You can get your quarterly, monthly or weekly totals, however: select the date range, and then it will show the totals for that time period in the "Site Usage" section.

Thanks!

Thanks very much -- I was hoping there was a way but I was just missing it. Guess I'll keep up with the rigamarole of crunching numbers in excel.

Is there a way to submit enhancement requests for analytics?
