Weird difference after releasign new webiste
Hello,
First of all I'd like to say I'm not the best at English, It's not my first language so my apolgies if something is spelled wrong or not clear. Last week the company I work for released a new website. The URL stayed the same but the site got totally renewed and improved. As you might understand we were very curious about the analytics and wanted to see if there had been any major differences between the week before the release and the week after...Now the results we got are the reason for this question.
In the week before we had the most visits through search engines. Like 58% of the visits was generated by search engine traffic. The direct traffic was 30% and the reffering sites the last 12%. Now in the week after it says the direct trafic was at 87% the search engine traffic was good for 11% and the reffering sites only 2% of the average site total. For us this is just very strange, it seems so unlikely that suddenly 87% of the visitors just typed in the website URL. I myself suspect that this weird difference is caused by some wrong settings or whatever which were caused by releasing the new website. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem as well or maybe theres someone who could explain this weird difference.
Thanks in advance. Greetings, Jan
