Is the database intact?
I just saw your site is Joomla - could you not re-upload the files?
I'm not sure about how Joomla works, but does it use a database for storing the content in your pages? If it does, and the database is intact, could you not just upload the original files?
I wish you luck in restoring your website. It's sad what some people do.

To fix the problem I'm going through each directory and deleting the files that they installed or changed.

I could just reupload everything, but I'm not really a great website developer (hence using Joomla, user friendly), and I'm afraid to delete everything and lose all my data.

Technically speaking, I could backup my database - delete the Joomla installation, reinstall, restore the database, and connect it to that one?

Possibly, but you'd have to have confrimation from someone who's familiar with Joomla. I've never tried it, or heard of it until this morning.
You could check out the Joomla Forum and seek some guidance there on what you can do.

To the hacking issue: you could make a backup of your database via phpMyAdmin (or phpMySQLAdmin or something like that). Almost all hosting providers have it installed. Than make a backup of your files, and restore them later.brbrTo the analytics issue: br1. I have heard rumours that clikcing on competitors' ads (goggle ads of companies which offer web analytics products) helps you get invitation. Don't know.br2. I know about several emails subscribed to the invitation waiting list, but only "active" gmail emails (ie. using your email regulary) got invitation.
