Hi,
Both the above appear to do the same thing to text on a web page.
Have I misunderstood their use?
Do Search engines view them differently?

A similar debate arises between and .

They're essentially the same. and can be restyled in your CSS stylesheet. Realistically, and are supposed to be more semantic, but you can also argue that and make more sense.

AFAIK, search engines do not view them differently.
