Hi, It's very unique request of yours.
I just don't understand why you learn mysql if you don't even want to install software?
Use SourceForge.net: PHP Triad for Windows software, it installs everything PHP+Mysql+Apache in 1 minute.
Good luck.

I'm totally new to php and mysql so when it starts asking for connection details it looks abit scary.

I'd rather learn it first then put it into action.

but thanks for the url ill take a look at it.

With software link I gave you, it does not ask anything, but here is defaults that would suite for almost any installation

connection details for Apache:

host: localhost
port: 80

for MySQL:

host: localhost
username: whatever you choose (root) usually
password: can be empty

When you done installing software, your PC will act as a WEB SERVER with Database running in the background. And your internal URL for testing will be IP: 127.0.0.1 or localhost, in other words, just open your browser and enter
url: http://localhost/

LOL! I know it's scary, it was scary for me 1st time too, but when u do it couple times, it's like peace of cake, try it, you'll see yourself.

Regards
