AdSense HTML help

When I try to add a wide skyscraper advertisement to my website in the web editor it doesnt show up right. The ad will just be in the middle of my page. On the google website it says the code has to be placed in the body of the page to show up right.

I tried to add the page manually, but when I open index.htm from my control panel there is no body. It appears the page is set up with multiple tables, and the only thing close is tbody which im assuming is only for the table.

I am using hostgator and swsoft site builder. I am pretty new at html and site management so any help would be appreciated.
