English synonym database

I am looking for a database with synonyms for an AI project I have in mind.

Does anyone have anything I could use to estract such a database?

I intend to create groups of synonyms like for example:

[words]
 [id] [word       [more info...]
  1    car         ...
  2    vehicle     ...
  3    automobile  ...

and then

[synonyms]
 [id] [group_id] [word_id]
  1    1          1
  2    1          2
  3    1          3

Again, what I need is the words and the relations between them in some type of a database.
Other things that would help would be dictionaries, and basically any databases with words in them
verb tables, etc...

Yes, something like that. The thing is, I'm hoping there is a sql database somewhere already extracted from software like this one.
If not, I`ll find a way to extract it myself.

I just installed wordnet (the free version from wordweb) and I`m glad to say the databases are in plain text, so with a little processing i`ll be able to use them.

My intention is not to create a dictionary myself, but to find one ready-made (and hopefully a correct one) to use with a open webbroject of mine.
As such, I don't have a couple of years to wait around for an imput form to create me a dictionary of bad and mispelled words.

Oh and by the way, I saw gateway2thailand, and it looks great, has good content, but you need to change some colors around. There are rules about color combinations, and obviously you broke a few of those

Thanks DC. Well concerning the colors...I will see what I can do about that in the future. Being color blind doens't help a lot I guess.. But there are people who can help me out.
